Joes logo A Visit to Joes Crab Shack And A Gift Card GiveawayI recently got the chance to pay a unique visit to Joe’s Crab Shack on International Drive. A group of Orlando bloggers were invited to learn about Joe’s Crab Shack’s commitment to serious food, fun times, and giving back to the community.

I like Joe’s idea of learning, because it reminds me a lot of eating!

George Atsangbe, Joe’s Crab Shack’s Group Culinary Director was our guide, and Jeffrey Johnson, the General Manager of the Joe’s at 8400 International Drive in Orlando, was our host as we broke, snapped, cracked, and dipped our way through Joe’s “Home Grown Summer” menu.

Chef George Showing Off His Steampot

Jeffrey’s team first brought out a handsome portion of peel and eat shrimp. Then we started in on the Steampots. Mmmmm Steampots. All steampots come with fresh, locally grown corn on the cob and new potatoes. My favorite two steampots were The Ragin’ Cajun Steampot (Dungeness crab, Queen crab, shrimp and andouille sausage), and the Samuel Adams Steampot (sweet snow crab, 1 pound of clams, meaty lobster claws, and smoked sausage, all steamed in Samuel Adams lager). I tried clams for the first time and even New Zealand green lipped mussels in the Santolla Steampot!

We washed down all this tasty seafood with a sampling of their fruity adult beverages and a berry cobbler al a mode.

The food alone is reason enough to check out Joe’s Crab Shack, but I think a visit is certainly in order for a birthday or family celebration, or a work party or event. A dance party broke out during our visit, and it didn’t take long for guests to join the staff in a group boogie. The atmosphere was fun and friendly.
